Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) Document advising the detailed shipment information transmitted from a supplier to a customer in advance of delivery, designating the contents and nature of the shipment. Business to Business (B2B) How businesses communicate with each other, the exchange of data. Only other businesses can access information on these sites. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) The electronic (computer-to-computer) exchange of business documents in a standardized format between diverse systems. There are internationally recognised standards around data content and format that are determined by not for profit organisations dedicated to encouraging EDI growth. By eliminating the clerical, mailing, faxing and other associated costs with paper-based information, EDI reduces costs, time delays and errors. Enterprise Resourse Planning (ERP) The intergrated software management system used for planning and managing "enterprise-wide" the resources needed to take customer orders, ship them, account for them and replenish all goods according to customer orders and forecasts. This often includes electronic commerce with suppliers. Examples of this include the application suites from SAP, Oracle etc. Plug IN Suppliers (PINS) The Ballantynes Supplier Portal is built on the PINS Technology. This makes it possible for a Customers order to be available to their Supplier electronically. Also the steps taken by Customer and Supplier on a specific order are recorded and visible to both. Purchase Order Acceptance (POA) The acceptance of the order inclusive of its terms and conditions by the Supplier. Purchase Order Changes (POC) Changes made to the Purchase Order usually at the request of the Supplier. |
